VFA, EyePACS, and the Armenian Ministry of Health launch the project.

VFA is partnering with EyePACS, LLC to establish a Prevent Blindness from Diabetes Program in the Central Eurasian Republic of Armenia. In October 2016, EyePACS helped establish multiple diabetic retinopathy screening sites (using digital retinal imaging technology) in hospitals in three locations in Armenia: Yerevan (the capital city), Gyumri, and Stepanakert (which lies in the autonomous region of Artsakh). Presently VFA is working with EyePACS and the Armenian Eye Care Project to establish a public health network for the telemedicine-based screening and the treatment of eye diseases throughout Armenia, with emphasis on preventing diabetes-related blindness.
